Deformation mechanism of deposit landslide induced by fluctuations of reservoir water level based on physical model tests

Located in reservoir area of Dahuaqiao Hydropower Station Lancang River, the Dahua ancient deposit landslide exhibits high possibility reactivation due to impoundment. In this study, physical model tests are conducted investigate variations groundwater, deformation, and failure process under different fluctuation speeds water level. Influence groundwater on stability when level fluctuating is analyzed then. Results indicate that seepage pressure caused by difference can increase displacement. During dropping level, relationship between displacement be described a power function model. Groundwater has negative effects landslides, damage characterized traction landslide. More attentions should paid front edge during first rise drop The study provides indispensable information for scheduling others similar areas, thus having vital importance.
